Johannes Boss (* 1983 in Lauterbach ) is a German screenwriter, director and showrunner.

Life

Johannes Boss already wrote for the Berliner Tagesspiegel and the Frankfurter Rundschau . In 2008 he was involved in the development of the web TV station ulmen.tv for entertainer and actor Christian Ulmen and acted as headwriter for the web series and TV show. Since 2009 he has been writing as headwriter for Ulmen's production company Ulmen Television and developing new formats for the company. He also worked for advertising clients such as Deutsche Telekom , Mercedes-Benz and adidas .

From 2010 to 2012 Johannes Boss was the chief author of the weekly late night show “Stuckrad Late Night” with Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre . The show initially ran on ZDFneo. In 2014 the show with Johannes Boss as editor-in-chief at Tele 5 was broadcast under the new title “Stuckrad-Barre” in 2 new seasons. Der Spiegel called the show “the most unusual, weirdest, most intelligent political talk show” and a “counter-model to Jauch and Plasberg”.

Together with Christian Ulmen and Robert Wilde (director Mein neue Freund ) he wrote the script for the documentary experiment Jonas - Imagine, it's school and you have to go back! . The film was released in German cinemas in January 2012.

From 2013 he was responsible as a screenwriter for the Deutsche Telekom TV campaign, with which serial storytelling was used for the first time in a TV campaign in Germany. In a total of 14 TV and another 14 online episodes, the campaign told the horizontally continued story of 19-year-old Clara Heins and her family. It was initially directed by Simon Verhoeven , and from 2015 by Bora Drachtkin .

In 2015 he is back was released in cinemas under the direction of David Wnendt . Johannes Boss wrote the script together with Wnendt and other co-authors. The film reached 2.4 million viewers in German cinemas.

In 2016 he wrote the scripts for Jerks together with co-writer Murmel Clausen (only season 1) and has since worked as a scriptwriter for all published seasons.

The 10-part series premiered on Maxdome and ProSieben in early 2017 and was awarded the Austrian Romy Film and Television Prize as well as the German Comedy Prize and the German Television Prize. In early May 2017, the production of a second season was announced, which was released on March 29, 2018. The third season of the series premiered in July 2019.
