Johannes Linneborn

Johannes Linneborn (born March 5, 1867 in the freedom Hagen near Sundern in the Arnsberg district , † January 22, 1933 in Paderborn ) was a Roman Catholic canon , clergyman and member of the state parliament of the center in the Prussian state parliament .

Johannes Linneborn studied philosophy and theology in Paderborn , Tübingen and Münster from 1888 to 1892 and was ordained a priest in Paderborn in 1892 . After four years of pastoral care, he studied philology, history and theology in Münster from 1896 to 1899 and was awarded a Dr. phil. and in 1899 Dr. theol. PhD .

After several years of school service and a year of study in Rome , Linneborn was appointed professor of canon law at the Philosophical-Theological Academy in Paderborn in 1910 . In 1918 he was appointed professor of canon law in Bonn, but did not take up this post because of the French occupation of the Rhineland, but left the civil service in 1919 at his own request. Before that, he had played a leading role in the Paderborn People's Council during the November Revolution, where he represented Catholic positions.

Since the Paderborn chair was now occupied by Franz Egon Schneider , Linneborn became cathedral chapter in Paderborn in 1919 , official in 1921 and provost of the Paderborn cathedral in 1922 . From 1924 to 1933 he was a member of the Prussian state parliament as a member of the German Center Party .

Linneborn has achieved academic merits primarily in the areas of canon law and church history. In addition, he worked with great zeal and success in church administration and politics; Particularly noteworthy is his endeavor to bring about the Prussian Concordat of 1929.

Linneborn was a member of the Catholic student union AV Guestfalia Tübingen in the CV since 1889 . In 1908 he was elected a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia , to which he was a member from 1914 and as a founder from 1923. From 1909 to 1924 he was director of the Association for History and Archeology of Westphalia, Department Paderborn .
