Johannes Neumann (born November 5, 1985 in Leipzig ) is a former German swimmer .
Career
He swam for Munich, Regensburg and SC Riesa over his special disciplines 50 m, 100 m and 200 m chest . In 2009 he moved to SC Wiesbaden 1911, where he ended his swimming career in 2013.
At the European Junior Championships in Glasgow in 2003 , Johannes Neumann won the 200 m breaststroke with a new German record in the open class. With the 4 × 100 m layer relay he reached 2nd place. The following year he was runner- up in the German Championships in 2004 , which also meant Olympic qualification for Athens , over 200 m breaststroke. Nevertheless, he narrowly missed the Olympic norm.
He was German champion in 2005 over 200 m chest and German champion in 2006 in 100 m and 200 m chest. At the German Winter Championships 2006 he also won the title on both routes. At the German Championships in 2007 he had to admit defeat over 50 m chest Mark Warnecke and over 100 m chest Andreas Lösel , over 200 m chest he was not at the start. Between 2003 and 2007, however, he held the German record over the 200 m chest distance .
At the European Short Course Championships in Helsinki in 2006 , he won the gold medal in the 4 × 50 m individual relay in a world record time of 1: 34.06 minutes. He also took part in the 2006 European Swimming Championships in Budapest , the 2007 World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, the 2008 European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven and the 2008 European Short Course in Rijeka , but failed to qualify for the finals over the chest courses (50 m, 100 m and 200 m) .
In qualifying for the Summer Olympics in Beijing , he secured the title in the 50 m and 100 m chest at the German Championships in Berlin in 2008 . However, he failed over the 100 m by 14/100 seconds just barely at the Olympic norm. Due to severe food poisoning, he could not start his parade discipline, the 200 m chest.
In December 2008 Johannes Neumann swam a new German record over 100 m chest in 1: 00.45 minutes in a competition in Magdeburg . At the same time, he missed the record held by Mark Warnecke in the 50 m chest with 27.49 seconds by only 5/100 seconds and thus took third place in the 2008 world best list.
In 2009 Johannes Neumann was able to qualify for the 50 m, 100 m and 200 m breaststroke for the 2009 World Swimming Championships in Rome. Here he reached the semi-finals over the 50 m and 100 m breasts.
In the 2012 Olympic qualification, Johannes Neumann once again managed to become German champion over 50 m breasts and he also achieved 2nd place over 100 m breasts. In his third attempt to qualify for the Olympics, he failed very close to the norm.
Overall, Johannes Neumann swam 9 German championship titles in the 50 m, 100 m and 200 m chest and meanwhile held the German record for men over all three chest distances.
