Johannes Wilhelm Wilda (born February 22, 1852 in Breslau , † July 9, 1942 in Potsdam ) was a German journalist and writer.

Life

Johannes Wilda was the son of the lawyer Wilhelm Eduard Wilda . The family lived in Kiel from 1854 ; Johannes Wilda attended high school in Kiel, Plön and Meldorf . After graduating from high school , he aspired to a career as a naval officer . After being an ensign u. a. at several overseas expeditions and the Franco-German War but had participated, he had to because of a hearing impairment his farewell take.

Johannes Wilda is now studying chemistry at the Darmstadt Polytechnic , where he also attended lectures by the literary scholar Otto Roquette . Wilda then worked as a chemist and as a private tutor ; his professional activity led him a. a. to Italy and Switzerland . He later worked as a journalist and was part of the editorial team of various press organs (including in Fürth , Nuremberg , Neumünster and Leipzig ). From 1893 to 1897 he was the chief editor of the literary section of the "Illustrierte Frauenzeitung". His close relationships with the Imperial Navy enabled him to take part in several world trips on the ships Meteor and Möwe . After living in Wernigerode and Övelgönne in the meantime, he settled in Lübeck in 1903 . During the First World War Wilda was editor-in-chief of the Schleswiger Nachrichten .

In addition to his journalistic work, Johannes Wilda also published travel reports on his extensive journeys on water and on land, as well as novels and stories that mainly deal with seafaring.
