John Gilroy
John Gilroy (born June 24, 1959 in Santa Monica , California ) is an American film editor .
Life
Gilroy is the twin brother of Dan Gilroy , who u. a. also works as a screenwriter. Her older brother is Tony Gilroy , who is also in the movie business. All three are thus in the tradition of their father Frank D. Gilroy , who directed several times and wrote numerous scripts. The brothers also work closely together on some of their projects.
Gilroy worked as an assistant editor from the mid-1980s. His first independent production as a film editor was A Monster from a Millionaire from 1989. He was responsible for the film editing of more than 20 other productions .
In 2008, he was for his work on Michael Clayton in the category Best Editing at the British Academy Film Awards 2008 nominated. In 2013 this was followed by a nomination for the Saturn Award for the best cut .
