John Inge
John Geoffrey Inge (born February 26, 1955 in Folkestone , Kent ) is a British Anglican theologian . He has been Bishop of Worcester in the Church of England since 2007 .
Life
Inge first attended Kent College in Canterbury . He then continued his education at St. Chads College in Durham ; There he graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in chemistry . After receiving his Postgraduate Certificate in Education in 1979, Inge taught chemistry at Lancing College in Sussex . Inge then decided to pursue a career as a priest. He then studied theology at the College of the Resurrection in Mirfield , Yorkshire . His ordination took place in the Diocese of Chichester . In 1983 he was ordained a deacon . In 1984 he was ordained a priest .
From 1984 to 1986 Inge was auxiliary Kaplan ( Assistant Chaplain ) at Lancing College; there he taught chemistry and religion as a teacher . From 1986 to 1990 he worked as a chaplain at the Harrow School , from 1986 to 1989 first as a junior chaplain , then in 1989/1990 as a senior chaplain . From 1990 to 1996 he was pastor ( vicar ) at St. Luke's Church, an inner city parish , in Wallsend in Tyneside County in the Diocese of Newcastle upon Tyne . During this time Inge was particularly committed to the concerns of socially disadvantaged parishioners.
In 1996 he was appointed canon and canon resident at Ely Cathedral ; he held this office until 2003. From 1999 to 2003 he was there also vice Domdekan of Ely Cathedral ( Vice Dean of the Cathedral ). His main areas of activity there included education and training as well as church missionary work. He supervised the editors and was responsible for the collaboration of lay people and theologians in the Church. He intensively supported the lay work in the diocese.
Inge was ordained bishop on October 9, 2003 . He was Bishop of Huntingdon from 2003 to 2007 ; in this capacity he served as a suffragan bishop in the diocese of Ely . In July 2007, his appointment as Bishop of Worcester to succeed Peter Selby was officially announced. He officially took office on October 1, 2007; Until the end of 2007 Inge continued to fulfill his duties in the Diocese of Ely. Inge moved to Worcester in late 2007 . He was inducted into office on March 1, 2008 with a solemn service in Worcester Cathedral .

Inge is a member of the Faith and Order Commission (FAOC) of the General Synod of the Church of England.
Inge Chairman (is Chairman ) Board of Directors ( Board ) of the College of Evangelists . Since 2008 he has been a member of the Council of Ridley Hall College , a theological college for the formation of priests, in Cambridge .
He is a longstanding member of the World Development Movement and a member of Amnesty International . He was 2005-2011 trustee ( Trustee ) of the organization Common Purpose , an international organization that advises people in management positions and support to make their decisions more effectively within their own organizations, the local community and for society as a whole. Inge has been a Trust Protector there since 2011 . Queen Elizabeth II appointed him the Office of High Almoner on February 15, 2013 .
Membership in the House of Lords
Inge has been a member of the House of Lords as Spiritual Lord since 2012 . In the House of Lords he succeeds John William Hind , Bishop of Chichester . Hind officially retired on April 30, 2012. Inge has been an official member of the House of Lords since May 9, 2012. Its official introduction to the House of Lords took place on June 25, 2012 with the assistance of Rowan Williams and David Urquhart .
Private
Inge is married. His wife Denise is a writer and is considered a recognized expert on the work of the English poet Thomas Traherne (1636 / 1637–1674), who belongs to the Metaphysical Poets . The marriage resulted in two daughters. His personal interests are theater , music , reading , cycling , swimming and traveling .
