John Negrin (born March 26, 1989 in West Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player . Since August 2012 he has been under contract with the Chicago Wolves from the American Hockey League .

Career

Negrin began his career in the 2004/05 season with the North Delta Flyers in the Pacific International Junior Ice Hockey League . During that season he also ran in the British Columbia Hockey League for the Surrey Eagles and in the Western Hockey League for the Kootenay Ice . There he played until January 2009. In the 2007 NHL Entry Draft , Negrin was selected in 70th position by the Calgary Flames .

Before the defender made his NHL debut, however, he was signed within the WHL by the Swift Current Broncos . After the Broncos left the playoffs, he was appointed by the Calgary Flames in their NHL squad in early April 2009 and made his debut on April 3 in the game against the Minnesota Wild . In total, he completed three NHL games. The 2009/10 season he began in the American Hockey League with the Flames farm team Abbotsford Heat .

On January 30, 2012, the Calgary Flames transferred him in exchange for Akim Aliu to the Winnipeg Jets , who used the defender in their AHL farm team St. John's IceCaps . In August 2012, the Canadian signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

International

Negrin represented his native Canada at the 2007 U18 World Junior Championship in Finland. There he finished fourth with the team.
