John Pisano (* 2. June 1931 in Staten Iceland , New York City ) is an American jazz guitarist of modern jazz .

Live and act

John Pisano grew up in New York City and then moved to the West Coast, where he first played in the Crew Chiefs Air Force Band (1952-55) and then from 1956 to 1958 in the band of Chico Hamilton . With this group he appeared in the film about the Newport Jazz Festival Jazz On A Summer's Day . He then worked with Matt Dennis , Buddy DeFranco and Jimmy Giuffre , but also recorded two albums with fellow guitarist Billy Bean and a larger line-up. In 1958 he became a member of the Paul Horn Quartet . From 1965 to 1970 and again in 1974/75 he played in Herb Alperts Tijuana Brass and also directed his own formations. In the 1980s he formed a duo with guitarist Billy Bean, with whom he recorded for Decca Records , and worked for several years with Joe Pass , with whom he recorded a duo album, among other things. In the 1990s two albums of his own were created for the jazz label Pablo Records . In 2000 he accompanied the singer Diana Krall on her album The Look Of Love . He has also played with Burt Bacharach , Tony Bennett , Herb Alpert, Natalie Cole , Leroy Vinnegar , Bill Perkins , Peggy Lee , Fred Katz , Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand throughout his career . With his wife, the singer Jeanne Pisano, he forms the duo Flying Pisanos .
