Saxbee's political interests include education , rural development, flood control , food control and consumer protection , immigration policy, and international relations . The countries India , Sweden , Denmark and Belgium are of particular interest to him .

Working in public

In 1994 Saxbee published the book Liberal Evangelism: A flexible response to the decade , in which he dealt with the preaching of the gospel and questions of church tolerance . Another book followed in 2009 under the title No Faith In Religion: some variations on a theme , in which Saxbee reflects on the challenges facing the church in the 21st century. Saxbee dedicates other chapters of the book to the dichotomy of faith and religion , the current role of the Church of England and church music from the Middle Ages to compositions by Andrew Lloyd Webber .

Saxbee takes a liberal-conservative standpoint on questions of canon law. This was also evident in his general attitude towards the question of homosexuality . As early as 1998, Saxbee had signed a pastoral bishop's declaration at the Twelfth Lambeth Conference , which advocated promoting full participation of homosexual people in the fellowship of the Church. In 2005, Saxbee established a committee in the Diocese of Lincoln to develop liturgical prayers and texts to be used in the blessings and thanksgiving services of unmarried communities . According to Saxbee's decision, the developed texts can since then be used with lesbian and gay couples as well as with couples living together without a marriage license. Saxbee was the first representative of the Anglican Church to introduce such a rite at the diocesan level. Saxbee explained that the rite is in accordance with the Anglican faith tradition, since the church only blesses the friendship bond between people, but does not generally recognize same-sex marriage or cohabitation. Saxbee therefore also refused public church blessings, as they are common at marriages, but allowed blessing areas in the family circle or in his private chapel, but not in the church.

In July 2006, Saxbee was part of a group of bishops who warned Tony Blair of the possession of nuclear weapons . These would be vicious and deeply against God.

Saxbee was among the signatories of a declaration on October 7, 2008, calling for the protection of children from emotional and physical violence.

Saxbee was one of the supporters of the Living Ghost Statement in 2009 , a campaign by the Church Action against Poverty movement to combat destitution and homelessness among asylum seekers .
