John T. Reitz

John T. Reitz is an American sound engineer and sound technician who has won the Oscar for best sound , the British Academy Film Award for best sound , the Cinema Audio Society (CAS Award), two Emmy and Golden Reel awards the Motion Picture Sound Editors won for excellence in sound editing.

Life

Reitz began his career as a sound engineer in the Hollywood film industry in 1976 with the creation of the film Grand Jury and has since worked on around 190 film productions .

For Saturday Night Only (1977) he was nominated for the first time for a BAFTA Film Award for Best Sound with Michael Colgan , Les Lazarowitz , John Wilkinson and Robert W. Glass Jr. In 1979 he received his first nomination for an Oscar for best sound with Wilkinson, Glass and Barry Thomas for the film In the Embers of the South (1978).

At the 1980 Emmy Awards, he and Ray Barons , David E. Campbell and Robert Pettis not only won an Emmy for outstanding performance for the television film The Ordeal of Dr. Mudd (1980), but was also nominated for the second part of The Guyana Massacre (Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones, 1980) in this category at the same time as Campbell, Jacques Nosco and Pettis . He won another Emmy with Campbell, Gregg Rudloff and Keith A. Wester for the television film An Early Frost (1985).

He had his most successful film with Matrix (1999), for which he won the Oscar, the BAFTA Film Award, the CAS Award and the Golden Reel Award for best sound in 2000 with Gregg Rudloff, David E. Campbell and David Lee .

Together with Rudloff, Campbell and Keith A. Wester , he was nominated for another Oscar for best tone in 2001 for Der Sturm and also received with these a nomination for the CAS Award and with these as well as Wylie Stateman and Kelly Cabral also a nomination for the BAFTA Film Award.

For Flags of Our Fathers (2006) he was at the 2007 Academy Awards with Rudloff, Campbell and Walt Martin again for the Oscar for the best sound and for the CAS Award and together with them as well as Alan Robert Murray and Bub Asman for a Satellite Award nominated for the best sound editing. Most recently, Reitz received a nomination for the BAFTA Film Award with Martin, Murray and Rudloff for The Stranger Son (2008).
