Jon Inge Kjørum (born May 23, 1965 in Hamar ) is a former Norwegian ski jumper .

Career

Kjørum jumped in the Ski Jumping World Cup for the first time on March 22, 1986 and already achieved a surprising 13th place in his first competition on the normal hill in Planica . For over a year, this should be his only place in the top 20. It was not until March 21, 1987 that he jumped to the front again and finished ninth on Holmenkollbakken in Oslo . Shortly before, he had already won the Norwegian Championships in Kongsberg on the normal hill.

At the championship in 1988 he could not repeat this success on the normal hill and only came in 3rd place. However, he won the jumping on the large hill in Vang . Due to the continued good success, he was appointed to the Norwegian squad for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , where he won the bronze medal in team competition with Ole Gunnar Fidjestøl , Ole Christian Eidhammer and Erik Johnsen . At the end of the day he was 15th on the large hill.

The 1988/89 season was the most successful season for Kjørum. He was able to win the jumping on the large hill at the Norwegian Championships in Steinkjer and on January 14, 1989 in Liberec he jumped on the podium for the first time at a World Cup. Previously, he had already achieved 6th place in the overall ranking at the Four Hills Tournament in 1988/89 . On January 22, 1989, he was able to jump on the podium again in Oberhof and came third. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 , he won the silver medal in team jumping with Magne Johansen , Clas Brede Bråthen and Ole Gunnar Fidjestøl . In the individual jumping he was fifth on the normal hill and 15th on the large hill. At the first competition after the World Cup on March 5, 1989 in Oslo, he was able to jump on the podium for the last time in his career in a World Cup competition with second place 6th place.

At the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund , he was only twelfth on February 25, 1990. In the following years he could not achieve any significant successes in the World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , he came in jumping from the normal hill on a disappointing 40th place. Before that he was only 19th on the large hill and only 4th in the team competition. Also at the national championships he was only able to achieve a 3rd place on the large hill in Rognan and so fell far short of expectations.

After he was barely able to qualify for the second round in the 1991/92 World Cup season , he ended his active jumping career on March 15, 1992 after the season.
