Jon Worth

Jon Worth (born May 23, 1980 in Newport ( Wales )) is a political blogger , journalist and early European political expert on the Internet. He is the founder and operator of the Euroblog blog . He writes regularly on the European Union, British ( Brexit ) and German politics. He has been a lecturer at the College of Europe in Bruges since 2015 .

Jon Worth studied philosophy, politics and economics at Merton College of Oxford University where he worked with a Bachelor graduated. In addition, he obtained a master's degree in European Politics from the College of Europe in Bruges . Jon Worth published his "Euro Blog" for the first time in 2005, he became 2010 by Social Europe, as one of the three most influential center-left - blogs nominated. FleishmanHillard rated it as one of the ten most readable European blogs. Hill + Knowlton Strategies described Jon Worth as one of the top three most influential twitterers on EU matters. He began his political career in 2003 as the European President of the Young European Federalists , a position he held until 2005.

In UK domestic affairs, he was responsible for an online campaign in 2007 for MP Harriet Harman , who was running as Deputy Leader of the Labor Party . He led the 2010 online campaign for Diane Abbott's Labor candidacy .

Jon Worth was the founder of the Atheist Bus Campaign in 2008. The successful campaign was based on his blog post entitled "In your face atheism?" back. When he moved to Berlin in 2013, he left the Labor Party and joined Alliance 90 / The Greens . Here he ran for the district election in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in 2016 .

He has been a lecturer at the College of Europe in Bruges since the 2015/16 academic year . At the Faculty of European Politics and Governance, he teaches on the subjects of online communication and the European Union . He conducts negotiation training together with Pierpaolo Settembri and Costanza Hermanin .

Also because, as a British citizen in Germany, he is personally affected by Brexit , he is regularly invited and interviewed as an expert in the German media. B. in the Deutsche Welle , in n-tv , in Deutschlandfunk , in Zeit Online and in the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

Since 2017 he has been a member of the Europe Policy Group of the World Economic Forum and a member of the Transparency International EU Advisory Group.

In June 2018, he announced his candidacy at the federal delegates 'conference for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen list for the 2019 European elections , but his candidacy at the federal delegates' conference of the Greens in November was unsuccessful.
