Jonathan is a comic series by the Swiss draftsman Cosey .
content
The Swiss dropout Jonathan travels to the Himalayas to find his childhood sweetheart , the Tibetan Saicha. However, this is killed in a Chinese air strike. Jonathan decides to stay in the mountains and travels to the countries there.
meaning
Artist Cosey regards Tibet as his favorite country. He wants to show differences but also common features of different cultures. The character Jonathan acts as his alter ego . The draftsman attaches great importance to an atmospheric atmosphere. At the beginning of every album, he recommends music titles that can be put on for reading.
In 1982, Band 7 Kate was named Best Album at the Angoulême Festival.
publication
The comic series was first published in continuation in 1975 in the Belgian magazine Tintin . This was followed in 1977 by the publication of albums by Le Lombard . From 1985 the albums appeared in German with Carlsen Verlag and from 2000 with Salleck Publications .
