Jonathan Clauss (born September 25, 1992 in Strasbourg ) is a French football player . He is under contract with RC Lens and can be used defensively and offensively on the right wing.

Career

The defender Jonathan Clauss grew near Strasbourg and began his career with FC Osthoffen . At the age of eight, Clauss moved to the youth department of Racing Strasbourg , before moving to local rivals ASPV Strasbourg at the age of eighteen . In 2013 Clauss then went into German club football for the southern Baden association league club SV Linx on the other side of the Rhine. After two years he returned to French football and joined the club US Raon , which had previously been relegated from the fourth to the fifth division . In the summer of 2016, he switched to US Avranches in the third tier national , before Jonathan Clauss moved to the second division US Quevilly a year later . With the club Clauss was penultimate and relegated.

After being briefly free of a contract, the Frenchman joined the German second division Arminia Bielefeld at the end of August 2018 . In his first season, the defender finished seventh with Arminia, played 28 league games (three goals and assists each) and played in the second round of the DFB Cup in the defeat against MSV Duisburg . In the 2019/20 season, Clauss was able to earn a regular place and was deployed on the right offensive flank by head coach Uwe Neuhaus from October 2019. He became autumn champion with Bielefeld and was able to score two goals in 27 competitive games and prepare seven more until the season break ordered due to the COVID-19 pandemic . After the game was resumed, the Frenchman was still part of the offensive department and scored three more goals. As a second division champion, Clauss finally managed to return to the Bundesliga with the Arminia .

For the 2020/21 season , Clauss returned to his home country for free and moved to Ligue 1 promoted RC Lens .
