Jools Holland
Julian Miles Holland , OBE (born January 24, 1958 in Blackheath , London ) is a British pianist, band leader and television presenter.
Live and act
Holland was a founding member of the band Squeeze in 1974 as a keyboardist , which he left in August 1980. He began his solo career in 1978 with the EP Boogie Woogie '78 . In 1987 Holland laid the foundation stone for his 18-piece touring band The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra , which is often reinforced by the singers Sam Brown and Ruby Turner .
His career as a television presenter began as a co-host of the music show The Tube , together with Paula Yates . Since 1992 he has presented the program Later with Jools Holland , in which he introduces well-known artists as well as newcomers in various musical genres.
Jools Holland has played with numerous musical greats, including Van Morrison , Peter Gabriel , David Gilmour , Chuck Berry , BB King , Tom Jones , Sugababes , Ringo Starr , Eric Clapton , Pearl Jam , Norah Jones , Paolo Nutini , Beverley Knight , Sting , James Dean Bradfield , Herbert Grönemeyer , Luther Vandross and many others. He played the piano solo in the Fine Young Cannibals' big hit "Good thing".
In June 2003 Holland was named Officer of the British Empire for his services to the British music industry . On August 29, 2005, Holland married his longtime partner Christabel McEwen, a sculptor, at St James' Church in Cooling , Kent .
Jools Holland also took part in the Concert for George in London's Royal Albert Hall on November 29, 2002 with singer Sam Brown . At this concert, a year after George Harrison's death, they were represented with the title Horse to the Water .
Holland lives in Westcombe Park near Blackheath in south-east London .
