José Alberto Moura

José Alberto Moura CSS (born October 23, 1943 in Ituiutaba ) is a Brazilian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Montes Claros .

Life

José Alberto Moura joined the Order of the Stigmatines , made his profession on December 9, 1964 , and was ordained a priest on January 9, 1971 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Uberlândia on April 18, 1990 . The Bishop of Uberlândia, Estêvão Cardoso de Avellar OP , gave him episcopal ordination on July 14th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Paulo Sérgio Machado , Bishop of Ituiutaba , and Moacyr José Vitti CSS, Auxiliary Bishop in Curitiba . As a motto he chose ACREDITEI POR ISSO FALEI .

With the retirement of Estêvão Cardoso de Avellar OP on December 23, 1992, he succeeded him as Bishop of Uberlândia. On February 7, 2007 he was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Archbishop of Montes Claros .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on November 21, 2018.
