Moacyr José Vitti CSS (born November 30, 1940 in Piracicaba , † June 26, 2014 in Curitiba ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Curitiba .

Life

Moacyr José Vitti joined the Order of the Stigmatines on January 17, 1953 and studied philosophy and theology in Ribeirão Preto and Campinas . He made his profession on March 9, 1960 and was ordained a priest on December 16, 1967 in the Capela da Santíssima Trindade in Campinas . He was initially active in his order, most recently as provincial in the state of São Paulo. In 1973 he moved to Rome as Vice Director General of the Congregation of the Stigmatines. At the same time, he completed a doctoral degree to become a Dr. theol. at the Angelicum in Rome. He then was Provincial in Santa Cruz, Brazil.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Curitiba and titular bishop of Sita on November 12, 1987 . The Archbishop of Curitiba, Pedro Antônio Marchetti Fedalto , donated him on January 3 of next year in Americana , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Lucas Moreira Neves OP , Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia , and Hélio Paschoal CSS, Bishop of Livramento de Nossa Senhora . As a motto he chose UM SÓ CORAÇÃO . The inauguration took place more than a year later, on March 1, 1989.

On May 15, 2002, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Piracicaba. He was appointed Archbishop of Curitiba on May 19, 2004 and was introduced to the office on June 18 of the same year. Moacyr José Vitti died on June 26, 2014 in the Episcopal House of Curitiba.
