José Alves da Costa

José Alves da Costa DC (born April 20, 1939 in Catanduva ; † December 4, 2012 ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Corumbá .

Life

Jose Alves da Costa joined the Congregation of Christian Doctrine Fathers at and studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He was ordained a priest on February 21, 1965 in Rome .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Thubursicum and auxiliary bishop in Ponta Grossa on January 3, 1986 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Carlo Furno , donated him episcopal ordination on February 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Geraldo Claudio Luiz Micheletto Pellanda CP , Bishop of Ponta Grossa, and Getúlio Teixeira Guimarães SVD , Bishop of Cornélio Procópio .

On May 8, 1991 he was appointed Bishop of Corumbá . On July 21, 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation.
