Mílton Antônio dos Santos SDB (born September 23, 1946 in Campos do Jordão , São Paulo ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cuiabá .

Life

Mílton entered the novitiate of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Pindamonhangaba in 1964 . After his first profession on January 31, 1965, he studied philosophy and literature in Lorena until 1967 , then Catholic theology at the Theological Institute of Pius XI. in São Paulo. From 1971 to 1974 he specialized in theology at the Pontifical University of the Salesians in Rome . On December 22, 1974, he was ordained a priest . From 1975 to 1980 he was pastoral leader in the minor seminary in the religious community , from 1981 to 1985 director of the Salesian College São José in Sorocaba , from 1986 to 1991 director of the Lyceum Coração de Jesus in São Paulo. In 1992 he prepared in Rome for his task as novice master , which he held from 1993 to 1995 in São Carlos. From 1996 to 1998 he was director of the Salesian publishing house Dom Bosco in São Paulo. From 1999 to 2000 he was director of the Salesian College Santa Teresinha in São Paulo.

On May 31, 2000, he was appointed Bishop of Corumbá by Pope John Paul II . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Cláudio Hummes OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on August 20 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Cuiabá , Bonifácio Piccinini SDB, and the Archbishop of Campo Grande , Vitório Pavanello . On September 3rd the inauguration took place in the diocese of Corumbá. His motto is “Deus é amor e misericórdia” (1 Jn 4:16).

On June 4, 2003 he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cuiabá . With the age-related resignation of Bonifácio Piccinini SDB on June 9, 2004, he succeeded him as Archbishop. From August 2, 2007 to November 12, 2008, after the death of Franco Dalla Valles, he was also Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Juína .
