José Carlos Castanho de Almeida
José Carlos Castanho de Almeida (born June 14, 1930 in Guarei ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and former bishop of Araçatuba .
Life
José Carlos Castanho de Almeida was ordained a priest on December 8, 1953 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 3, 1982 auxiliary bishop in Santos and titular bishop of Urusi . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Paulo Evaristo Cardinal Arns OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on May 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were José Lambert Filho CSS , Archbishop of Sorocaba , and David Picão , Bishop of Santos.
On September 5, 1987, he was appointed bishop of Itumbiara . On March 23, 1994 he was appointed the first bishop of the diocese of Araçatuba , established on the same date . He resigned from his office on September 17, 2003.
