José Gustavo Angel Ramírez MXY (born March 10, 1934 in La Ceja ; † February 23, 2013 ) was Vicar Apostolic of Mitú .

Life

José Gustavo Angel Ramírez joined the religious order of the Misioneros Javerianos de Yarumal and studied at the Institute for Foreign Missions (Instituto de Misiones Extranjeras) in Yarumal in Colombia and philosophy (1951–53) and theology (1955–1958). At the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome , he completed a doctorate in philosophy (1959–1961). He was ordained a priest on September 7, 1958 .

José Gustavo Angel Ramírez was pastor in Pizarro in the Departamento del Chocó (1968), Puente Aranda in Bogotá (1972, 1985–1986), at the Catedral de San Buenaventura of the Diocese of Buenaventura (1979–1980), Quetame (1987) and Tame ( 1988-1989). During his priestly ministry he was professor of philosophy at the mission seminary in Yarumal (1959–1962 and 1966), rector of the minor seminary in Yarumal (1964–1966), vicar general of the diocese of Istmina (1967); Rector of the Colegio Junín on the island of Providencia (1968), Spiritual of the Seminario Intermisional Bogotá (1969), theological director of the IMEY in Bogotá (1970–1971) and rector of the IMEY seminary (1981–1984).

Pope John Paul II appointed him on June 19, 1989 Vicar Apostolic of Mitú-Puerto Inírida and Titular Bishop of Vescera . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , Archbishop Angelo Acerbi , donated to him on July 22, 1989 in La Ceja , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Jesús Emilio Jaramillo Monsalve MXY, Bishop of Arauca , and Belarmino Correa Yepes MXY, Vicar Apostolic of San José del Guaviare .

On September 17, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
