José Augusto Fernandes Teixeira

José Augusto Fernandes Teixeira (born December 20, 1964 in Dili , Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor .

Life

Teixeira came to Australia at the age of 12 and grew up in Sydney , in the Cabramatta district. He studied at the University of Queensland (Bachelor of Law) and the University of New England (Bachelor of Arts - Politics and Economic History) and worked as a lawyer in Brisbane . In addition to his East Timorese citizenship, he also has Australian citizenship.

From August 2000 Teixeira lived again in Dili and worked for the transitional government under the UN administration . With the independence of East Timor in 2002, he became State Secretary for Tourism , Environment and Investments at the Ministry of Development and Environment. On July 26, 2005, the cabinet was reshuffled and Teixeira was given the new post of Vice Minister for Natural Resources, Minerals and Energy Policy . After Prime Minister Marí Alkatiri resigned and his successor José Ramos-Horta was sworn in , Teixeira was promoted to Minister of Natural Resources, Minerals and Energy . Teixeira kept the office under Prime Minister Estanislau da Silva until he was replaced as Prime Minister by Xanana Gusmão after the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 on August 8, 2007 . Gusmão took over the ministry himself. Teixeira was elected as a member of the national parliament for FRETILIN in the parliamentary elections. In the 2012 parliamentary elections , Teixeira was no longer on the electoral list.

Teixeira is also a member of the National Central Committee (since September 2011) and the National Political Committee of FRETILIN (since September 2007) and party spokesman.
