On the eleventh game day - TSV 1860 was meanwhile in relegation position 15 - Strauss again guarded the goal. He remained the first goalkeeper until the end of the season, but could not prevent the team from being relegated from the league for the first time in 1953. He stayed in Munich and joined the 2nd Division in 1953/54 with 1860 .
