Josefine Kramer-Glöckner
Josefine Kramer-Glöckner , née Josephine Glöckner , also known as Pepi Glöckner-Kramer and Pepi Kramer-Glöckner (born January 17, 1874 in Berlin , † March 9, 1954 in Vienna ) was an Austrian folk actress , soubrette and singer ( soprano ).
Life
Josefine Glöckner was the daughter of the actress Bertha Glöckner and the popular comedian Josef Matras , who was a guest in Berlin at the time of her birth. She was educated in a boarding school in Pressburg and was already on stage at the age of 15. Her first engagement was at the Deutsches Theater in Budapest , followed by years in Berlin and finally from 1892 at the Deutsches Volkstheater in Vienna, where she stayed until her death. In 1900 she married her colleague Leopold Kramer and from then on called herself Pepi Kramer-Glöckner. From 1917 she also played in silent films in addition to the theater.
She had great success in plays by Ludwig Anzengruber (Josefa Schalanter in 1890 and Grandmother in The Fourth Commandment in 1952 ) and Hermann Bahr , but also as Mother Wolfen in Gerhart Hauptmann's Der Biberpelz . At soirees she performed couplets and chansons in front of members of the court. After the First World War, her husband took over the German People's Theater in Prague , which enabled her to do numerous guest tours in Czechoslovakia. In 1929 she played in the Threepenny Opera in the Raimundtheater and in Der lebende Leichnam in the Theater in der Josefstadt under the direction of Max Reinhardt .
During and after the Second World War, she took part in smaller roles in feature films, where, for example, Hans Moser and Johannes Heesters were among her partners.
After her death, Josefine Kramer-Glöckner was buried in the Ober Sankt Veiter cemetery (group C, row 6, no. 22). In 1955 the Kramer-Glöckner-Strasse in Vienna- Hietzing was named after her.
