Joseph Ignace Waterschoot OPraem (born March 16, 1911 in Oud-Turnhout , Belgium , † April 20, 1990 ) was a Belgian religious and Roman Catholic Vicar Apostolic of Lolo .

Life

Joseph Ignace Waterschoot joined the religious order of the Premonstratensians at and received on 24 August 1934, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On September 21, 1949, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Apostolic Prefect of Lolo.

On July 2, 1962, Joseph Ignace Waterschoot became the first bishop of Lolo as a result of the elevation of the Apostolic Prefecture of Lolo. The Archbishop of Coquilhatville , Hilaire Marie Vermeiren MSC , donated him episcopal ordination on September 2 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the retired Vicar Apostolic of Buta , Charles Alphonse Armand Vanuytven OPraem, and the Bishop of Lisala , François Van den Berghe CICM .

Waterschoot participated in the first and second session of the Second Vatican Council . On August 28, 1987, Pope John Paul II accepted Joseph Ignace Waterschoot's resignation due to reasons of age.
