Joseph Villiet
Joseph Villiet (born August 10, 1823 in Ébreuil , † July 10, 1877 in Bordeaux ) was a French painter and glass painter who mainly created stained glass windows for churches in southwestern France.
Life
Joseph Villiet was trained by Émile Thibaud and Étienne Thevenot in Clermont-Ferrand . He then went into business for himself in Bordeaux in 1852. From 1853 until his death in 1877 he had his studio at 66, rue Saint-Jacques.
After his death, his student and colleague Henri Feur continued the workshop, initially with Joseph Villiet's widow.

The stained glass windows of Joseph Villiet are mainly located in the southwest of France, some work but also in other regions such as in the departments of Allier , Loiret , Some , Puy-de-Dome and Paris .
- Bordeaux Cathedral : windows of numerous chapels (Saint-Joseph, Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel, Annonciation, Sainte-Anne, Sainte-Marguerite, Saint-Charles-Borromée, Sacré-Cœur)
- Cahors Cathedral
- Bazas Cathedral ( Bazas ), the windows were built between 1852 and 1862
- Notre-Dame church in Nérac
- Saint-Nicolas church in Nérac, the windows were made between 1856 and 1868
- Church in Isle-Saint-Georges
- Saint Joseph Church in Albi
- Church of Saint-Paul in Carbon-Blanc , the windows of the nave and the galleries were built between 1872 and 1877

Bazas Cathedral
In the period from 1852 to 1862, Joseph Villiet created numerous windows in the cathedral of Bazas , some of which were signed by him.
