Joss Williams

Joss Williams (* around 1960 in Taplow , Buckinghamshire , England ; † around 2020 ) was a special effects artist who for Hugo the Oscar was awarded.

Life

At the age of 16 he went to the Netherlands to work as a visual effects assistant for the film The Bridge of Arnhem . From 1984 other films followed such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom , Aliens - The Return , Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Alien 3 . In his first films he was assistant, later head of the special effects division .

In 1999 he was nominated for the British Academy Film Award in the category Best Visual Effects for Sleepy Hollow along with Jim Mitchell, Kevin Yagher and Paddy Eason . This was followed by other nominations for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory , The Bourne Ultimatum, and in 2011 Hugo Cabret . Together with Robert Legato , Ben Grossman and Alex Henning, he received the Oscar for Hugo Cabret in the category Best Visual Effects .
