Juan Francisco Muñoz Melo (born June 25, 1959 in Santander ) is a former Spanish handball player who was mostly used on the left back .
The 1.95 m tall and 95 kg heavy right-hander began his professional career at CB Calpisa Alicante, with whom he became Spanish champion in 1978. In 1979 he won the Copa del Rey de Balonmano and the European Cup Winners' Cup . In 1981 he moved to FC Barcelona , where he won the championship three times, the King's Cup four times, the Catalan League six times, the Spanish Supercup once and the European Cup Winners' Cup three times until 1988. He then went to Teka Santander in his hometown . With Teka he won two more championship titles, six national cup wins and three European cup wins.
With the Spanish national team Muñoz participated in the Olympic Games in 1980 in Moscow, in 1984 in Los Angeles, in 1988 in Seoul and 1992 in Barcelona part. With 243 internationals , he has completed the most appearances by a Spanish outfield player and fourth-most overall. With 701 goals, he was also the record scorer before Juanín García (822) and later Iker Romero (752) and Alberto Entrerríos (726) overtook him.
