European Cup Winners' Cup (handball) 1985/86

The 1985/86 European Cup Winners' Cup was the eleventh edition of the competition for European handball cup winners . The 24 participating teams qualified in their home countries through the national cup competition for the European Cup organized by the International Handball Federation (IHF) . The defending champion FC Barcelona was automatically qualified and was able to defend his title in the final against the West German representative TV Großwallstadt as in the previous year due to the away goals rule (20:18, 19:21).

The other clubs ( SC Empor Rostock , USAM Nîmes , Víkingur Reykjavík , RK Železničar Niš , HC Minaur Baia Mare , HK Drott , ZMC Amicitia Zurich and defending champion FC Barcelona ) automatically entered the round of 16 with a bye .
