European Cup Winners' Cup (handball) 2008/09
At the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup 2008/09 44 handball club teams participated, who qualified in the previous season in their home countries in the cup competition for the competition or out of the Champions League 08/09 had been eliminated. It was the 34th edition of the cup winners' competition. The cup games began on September 6, 2008, the second round final took place on May 30, 2009. The defending champion of the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup was the Hungarian club KC Veszprém . The title winner that season was the Spanish club BM Valladolid .
1st qualifying round
14 teams took part that had previously qualified for the competition.
The first legs took place on 6/7/12/13. September 2008. The second legs took place on 7/13/14. September 2008.
2nd round
The 7 winners of the first qualifying round and another 19 teams that had previously qualified for the competition took part.
The first legs took place on 11/12/18. October 2008. The second leg took place on 18./19. October 2008.
3rd round
The 13 winners of the 2nd round and another 3 teams who had previously qualified for the competition took part.
The first leg took place on 14/15/16. November 2008. The second leg took place on 19/22/23. November 2008.
Round of 16
The eight winners of the 3rd round and the eight third-placed winners of the Champions League group stage took part.
The first legs took place on 13/14/15. February 2009. The second leg took place on 15/21/22. February 2009.
Quarter finals
The eight winners from the round of 16 took part.
The draw for the quarter-finals took place on March 9, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. (GMT + 2) in Vienna.
The first leg took place on 28/29. March 2009. The second leg took place on 4th / 5th. April 2009.
Semifinals
The four winners from the quarterfinals took part.
The draw for the semi-finals took place on April 7, 2009 at 11:00 (GMT + 2) in Vienna.
The first leg took place on April 26, 2009. The second leg took place on April 2, 2009.

The two winners from the semifinals took part.
The drawing of the finals took place on May 5th, 2009 at 11:00 am (GMT + 2) in Vienna.
