The 2019/20 season of the youth Bundesliga handball (JBLH) female was the seventh season of the top German division in handball of the female A-youth . It began on September 7, 2019 with the first match day of the preliminary round and would have been scheduled on 30/31. May 2020 ended with the Final Four , but was canceled prematurely on April 21, 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis .
Later, the German Handball Federation (DHB), as the host, stipulated that the championship title would not be awarded. The eight teams that took the first two places in the intermediate round groups and thus made it to the failed quarter-finals qualify directly for the next season. The defending champion is the female A-youth from Borussia Dortmund.
Grouping
The youth game committee of the DHB determined the following group allocation on June 14, 2019:
- Group 1: Buxtehuder SV, Rostocker HC, Werder Bremen
- Group 2: HC Leipzig, TV Aldekerk, AMTV Hamburg
- Group 3: HSG Blomberg-Lippe, Füchse Berlin Reinickendorf, VfL Bad Schwartau
- Group 4: TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen, HSG Bensheim / Auerbach, TuS Metzingen
- Group 5: Frankfurter HC, TSG Friesenheim, Thuringian HC
- Group 6: HSG Marne / Brunsbüttel, VfL Oldenburg, SV Grün-Weiß Schwerin
- Group 7: HCD Groebenzell, SG BBM Bietigheim, TV Nellingen
- Group 8: BV Borussia Dortmund, HSG Rodgau Nieder-Roden, SG Kappelwindeck / Steinbach
Preliminary round
The preliminary round was held on three matchday weekends between 7./8. September and 16./17. November 2019.
Group 1
In Group 1, Buxtehuder SV and Werder Bremen had already qualified for the second round before the final matchday. Rostock lost all four games and was eliminated.

Group 2
HC Leipzig played confidently and was the group winner early on. Aldekerk also qualified for the second round, while AMTV Hamburg lost all games and was eliminated.

Group 3
In Group 3, VfL Bad Schwartau and HSG Blomberg-Lippe had already qualified for the second round before the final matchday. The Füchse Berlin lost all four games and were eliminated.

Group 4
In Group 4, Metzingen won the group without losing and reached the second round as did Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who placed second. The HSG Bensheim / Auerbach were eliminated without a win, but were able to achieve a respectable success with the 27:27 draw in the home game against Metzingen .

Group 5
The preliminary round matches in Group 5 were exciting - the decisions were only made on the last day of the match. The Thuringian HC and Friesenheim qualified for the second round, while the Frankfurt HC were eliminated by the final 21:26 defeat against the THC.

Group 6
In Group 6, VfL Oldenburg won all four games and was sovereign group winner. HSG Marne / Brunsbüttel came second in the group due to the better goal difference in direct comparison with the team from Schwerin with the same number of points.

Group 7
The preliminary round matches in Group 7 were exciting. Only in the last group match between Bietigheim and Gröbenzell (28:28 draw) was the decision made: Bietigheim and Nellingen qualified for the intermediate round, while Gröbenzell narrowly eliminated.

Group 8
Borussia Dortmund remained in group 8 without losing points and was sovereign group winner. The SG Kappelwindeck / Steinbach also qualified for the second round, while the HSG Rodgau Nieder-Roden were eliminated after clear defeats in all four games.

Intermediate round
For the intermediate round, the top two teams in each of the eight preliminary round groups qualified. The game was played in four groups, with the top two qualifying for the quarter-finals.
The intermediate round was on three matchday weekends between 18./19. January and February 29th / 1. March 2020.
