Julia Seeliger
Julia Seeliger (born January 22, 1979 in Buchholz in the Nordheide ) is a German journalist .
Studies, profession and journalistic work
Julia Seeliger first studied biochemistry , then from 2001 to 2008 technical journalism at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences . In Bonn she became a member of the local Catholic student association Flamberg through ADV Penthesilea . In September 2008 she completed her studies as a qualified journalist (FH).
From September 2009 to the end of 2011 she worked as an editor for the online edition of taz , where she wrote the column “Alles Bio?” For the tazzwei section from July 2011 to June 2013. From the end of 2011 to August 2012 she worked for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as a blogger on the blog “Allerseelen”, which was taken offline at the beginning of August 2012. After a creative crisis, Seeliger is writing again, currently (as of August 2020) on the Taube & Falke blog .
Party political engagement
Seeliger began her involvement with the Greens in Bonn in 2002. She got involved there with the Green Youth , became a member of the district executive and later also a member of the State Party Council of the Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia . From 2004 to 2006 she was a member of the federal board and treasurer of the Green Youth. She was also a member of the women's council of her party.
In December 2006, she spontaneously ran for the party council at the Green Party conference in Cologne . She was elected with 55.3% for a two-year term of office and thus ousted Bundestag Vice President Katrin Göring-Eckardt from the committee . Your surprising election after a speech with provocative positions aroused wide press coverage and was seen as the party's desire to return to alternative spontaneous elements.
In March 2007, Seeliger was elected to the state executive committee of the Greens in Berlin. In December 2008, Seeliger resigned from the Berlin state board for professional reasons. In April 2012, she ended her membership in the Greens on the grounds that as a journalist she did not want to expose herself to suspicion of engaging in party politics. From October 2014 she worked as a managing director in the council office of the Bonn Pirate Party . In June 2017 she joined the SPD .
Focus and positions
Under the heading “Monogamy is not a solution”, Seeliger called for, among other things, a right of adoption for homosexuals , the cancellation of Hartz IV in favor of an individual basic security and individual taxation of income instead of splitting the spouse . She also advocates the controlled distribution of all drugs . She spoke out against the copyright reform and in favor of a legal media exchange.
Personal
Julia Seeliger has been practicing judo since she was eight , gained a Dan degree ( black belt ) and worked as a trainer in clubs and schools.
