Julian Gillesberger

Julian Gillesberger (born November 17, 1972 in Vienna , grew up in Steyr , currently lives in Rainbach im Mühlkreis ) is an Austrian violist and cultural manager and the grandson of Hans Gillesberger .

Life

Julian Gillesberger studied violin and viola in Linz and Oberschützen with Boris Kuschnir and Alfred Staar . He lives in Freistadt in Upper Austria and is a member of the Spring String Quartet . With this quartet, the artist performed at various festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Sons d'hiver Festival in Paris, the Rome Jazz Festival and the Salzburg Autumn Jazz Festival . The quartet also performed at the Birdland jazz club in New York and at Carnegie Hall . Among other things, Gillesberger already had joint projects with artists such as Lee Konitz , Joe Lovano , Ohad Talmor and Konstantin Wecker . Julian Gillesberger has been responsible for Konstantin Wecker's Austria management since September 2010.

Solo performances and master classes

• 2001 Soloist with Paul Hindemith's funeral music with the Ensemble Sonare Linz
• 2006 viola sonata by Dmitri Dmitrijewitsch Schostakowitsch with Matthias Giesen at the International Bruckner Days in St. Florian
• 2008 lecturer at the orchestra week Musikschmiede in Waidhofen an der Ybbs
• 2009 Conductor at the International Bruckner Festival in Linz ( Franz Schubert's E-flat major )
• 2009 to 2011 tour with Konstantin Wecker Germany and Austria

In 1996/97 Gillesberger was principal violist of the Burgenland Symphony Orchestra, since 1995 he has been permanent principal violist of the Altomonte Orchestra of Sankt Florian and since 2000 principal violist of the music community of the Mozarteum Salzburg .

With these ensembles toured the Freistädter already Spain , Italy and Austria . He is also involved in productions with the Bruckner Orchester Linz , the Johann Strauss Ensemble , the Ensemble Actuell , Lee Konitz and the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna .
