Julius Hermann Oskar Albrecht (born June 18, 1827 in Wiegschütz , † June 27, 1901 in Dresden ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Julius was a son of Georg Konrad Friedrich Albrecht (1792-1870) and his wife Antonie, née Missetius (1801-1867).

Military career

After attending the secondary school in Mainz and the cadet houses in Bensberg and Berlin , Albrecht was transferred to the 2nd engineering department as an extra-budgetary second lieutenant on May 27, 1845 and assigned to the 6th engineering department. From October 1, 1845 to July 31, 1847 was commanded for further training at the United Artillery and Engineering School. Immediately after his return, he was transferred to the 6th pioneer department on August 1, 1847 with a patent from August 17, 1845. From October 1, 1848 to September 30, 1849 he was head of a pioneering division in Breslau . He then came to Magdeburg on May 1, 1850 for fortification services and to Königsberg on April 26, 1852 . He was also transferred to the 1st engineer inspection on July 20, 1852. There he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on May 21, 1854 and at the same time appointed 2nd Adjutant to the inspection. On May 4, 1858 he was promoted to captain and was commander of the mobile company of the 8th Engineer Division during the mobilization on the occasion of the Sardinian War in 1859. On September 3, 1859, he came to the 3rd engineer inspection and was commander of the 1st company of the 8th engineer division. From there he came on June 2, 1863 as a commander in the 2nd reserve engineer division.

During the German War he was assigned from June 22 to July 9, 1866 to fortify the Muthe- und Motteststellung near Berlin. He then took part in the campaign in southern Germany. After the war, on October 30, 1866, he was transferred to the 1st Company of the Pioneer Battalion No. 11 as a commander. On May 17, 1867 he came as a major and commander in the Pioneer Battalion No. 6. During the war against France , Albrecht was initially commander of the Pioneers of VI. Army Corps and on August 21, 1870 he joined the staff of General von Werder . During the campaign he took part in the sieges of Pfalzburg and Strasbourg . He was also in the battles at Epinal, Ognon, Pasques, Sombernon, Villersexel and Montbeliard . He received both classes of the Iron Cross .

Even before the peace agreement , Albrecht was again commander of Pioneer Battalion No. 6 on April 24, 1871. On January 18, 1872, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, and on April 12, 1873, he was commander of Pioneer Battalion No. 15 he was promoted to colonel on September 19, 1874 and was appointed inspector of the 2nd Pioneer Inspection on May 15, 1875. Under awarding of the character as a major general Albrecht was on 14 October 1880 with board for disposition made and after its adoption on 16 February 1896, the Order of the Crown awarded II. Class. He died in Dresden on June 27, 1901.

Albrecht married Anna Liddy Zimmermann (1837–1920), a daughter of the businessman Karl Julius Zimmermann (1806–1888), on May 3, 1859 in Berlin.
