Julius Zeissig
Ernst Julius Zeißig (* 29. April 1855 in Olbersdorf at Zittau ; † 18th March 1930 in Leipzig ) was a German architect of Historicism , in particular in the neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic , and later style in the Art Nouveau style built. He became known for his church buildings .
Career
Zeißig was born near Zittau and attended the Zittau building trade school . He then worked for the Vienna construction company. This was followed by three years of training with August Friedrich Viehweger in Leipzig and studying architecture with Hermann Nicolai at the Dresden Art Academy . In 1882 he set up an architecture office in Leipzig. He was based on the Eisenach regulative , resorted to the Renaissance at the turn of the century and later also adapted Art Nouveau . Before the First World War he retired. Zeißig died in 1930 and was buried in the Leipzig Südfriedhof (in the VII. Section). On his tombstone is a relief of the Luther Church in Leipzig. He was a member of the Leipzig Masonic Lodge Balduin zur Linde .
