Jung Hye-lim ( kor. 정혜림 ; born June 1, 1987 in Busan ) is a South Korean hurdler who specializes in the 100 meter distance .

Athletic career

Jung Hye-lim gained her first international experience at the Indoor Asian Games in Pattaya in 2005 , where she finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles. In 2006 she reached the semi-finals over 100 m hurdles at the Junior World Championships in Beijing . In 2009, she narrowly missed a medal in fourth at the East Asian Games in Hong Kong . In 2010, she was eliminated in the preliminary round of the Asian Games in Guangzhou . In 2011 she won the silver medal at the Asian Championships in Kobe and also qualified for the World Championships in Daegu . There she was eliminated both over 100 meters and in the hurdles sprint in the preliminary run. In 2012 she qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated with 13.48 s in the lead . In 2013 she won the bronze medal at the East Asian Games in Tianjin . In 2014 she finished fourth at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea .

At the 2015 Asian Championships in Wuhan , she finished sixth with 13.54 seconds in the final. Two years later she won the gold medal at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneshwar and qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated this time with 13.37 s in the preliminary round. In 2018, Jung took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the third time and won the gold medal there in 13.20 seconds ahead of Indonesian Emilia Nova and Lui Lai Yiu from Hong Kong. She also joined the South Korean 4 x 100 meter relay and was eliminated there with 46.04 s in the preliminary round. The following year she was unable to defend her title at the Asian Championships in Doha and finished seventh in 13.50 seconds.

In 2012 as well as 2015 and 2016, 2018 and 2020 , Jung became the South Korean champion in the 100-meter hurdles. She completed a master's degree in educational science at Chosun University in Gwangju .
