Jure Radelj (born November 26, 1977 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian ski jumper .

Career

Radelj started ski jumping at an early age in his home town of Ljubljana. On March 28, 1993, at the age of 15, he was in the senior national team for a World Cup competition for the first time and finished jumping on the large hill in Planica in 56th place. On December 30, 1995, he was able to win World Cup points for the first time with 27th place in Oberstdorf at the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament 1995/96 . When jumping in Bischofshofen on January 6th, 1996 he even managed a further increase with 22nd place.

At the ski flying world championship in 1996 on the Kulm , he managed to jump to 49th place. In the following World Cup competitions, he just barely missed the points or ended up on the lower ranks. On February 22, 1997 he jumped at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1997 in Trondheim in jumping on the normal hill on the 45th place. At the ski flying world championship in 1998 in Oberstdorf he reached 29th place. The 1999/2000 season began like the previous season with changing results in the lower points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein he was 31st on the large hill and achieved 5th place in the team competition together with Damjan Fras , Primož Peterka and Peter Žonta , ahead of the team from Norway. He was also largely unsuccessful in the World Cups following the World Cup and the 2000 Summer Grand Prix. It was only at the beginning of the 2000/01 World Cup season that he was able to jump to the top positions again. He already achieved 7th place in the first World Cup competition of the season in Kuopio, Finland . A week later he jumped to 6th place on the same hill. at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2001 in Lahti , he came 47th on the normal hill and 21st on the large hill. In team jumping he and the team reached 5th place on the large hill and 6th place on the normal hill.

After the World Cup, Radelj's performance steadily decreased, which is why he completed his last World Cup competition in Kuopio on November 24, 2001. However, he was included in the squad for the Continental Cup and jumped there for the first time on January 2, 2002 in Innsbruck . After several good results in this series, he started again on January 18, 2003 in the senior national team in World Cup competitions. However, he did not achieve any results within the points, which is why he started again in the Continental Cup from February 2003. On March 21, 2003 he was again in the team for the Ski Flying World Cup in Planica, where he was fifth in the team competition and 33rd in the individual competition. After he finished the following Continental Cup competitions in the top 10 with one exception and even won the competition in Valenje , he was nominated again for a World Cup competition on November 29, 2003. In Kuusamo , however, he did not get beyond 51st place on the large hill. So there was still only jumping in the Continental Cup for him. On January 21, 2006 he was nominated for a test for the World Cup jumping in Sapporo , Japan . In the two competitions he was able to draw attention again with 23rd and 36th place. Despite this good result, he was denied a return to the World Cup squad. After a rather unsuccessful Continental Cup season in which he finished 49th with 21 points, he ended his active ski jumping career after the season finale on March 18, 2007 in Zakopane , where he reached 38th place.
