Career
Jurij Navarenko began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of HK Sokil Kiev in his native city. From 1995 to 2001 he played for several clubs from Kiev in the East European Hockey League , which he won in 1999 with his home club Sokil Kiev. In the middle of the 2001/02 season he left his hometown and moved to Spain, where he played for the CH Jaca in the Superliga . With the team from Aragon he won the Spanish championship title in 2003 and 2004, and the cup competition in 2002 and 2003 . In 2004 he returned to Kiev for two years and played for Sokil in the Belarusian extra league for two years . He was also used in the playoff finals for the Ukrainian championship , for which Sokil had been set, and was able to win the Ukrainian title in 2005 (against Dniprovskje Wolki Dnipropetrovsk ) and 2006 (against HK Berkut Kiev ). After these successes moved to the Belarusian league competitor HK Vitebsk , who also played for two years. In 2008 he went back to Sokil, who now played in the Russian Wysschaja Liga , but moved back to Belarus after a season with his club in the extra league. After he had played again in Vitebsk in the back series of the 2009/10 season, he joined the Latvian top club HK Liepājas Metalurgs for the following season , who also played in Belarus. With eight appearances in the second team of the club from the Baltic Sea coast, he also contributed to the title win of the Metalurgs Reserve in the Latvian league . Since 2011, Navarenko played again in Belarus. After two years at HK Schachzjor Salihorsk , where he was the league's best goal setter in 2013, he moved to HK Homel , where he ended his career in 2015.
International
In the junior division, Navarenko first stood for his home country at the U18 B European Championship in 1996 , when he was the best assists in the tournament, and after winning the U18 A European Championship in 1997 , as the Ukrainians with a 2-1 win after extra time in the decisive third playdown game against the German team the relegation succeeded on the ice. At the U20 B World Cup in 1999 , he and his team were promoted to the A group.
For the Ukrainian national ice hockey team for men, however, Navarenko was first nominated for the 2006 World Cup when he was 26 years old. He and his team finished twelfth among 16 teams in the top division. In the following year , however, he had to accept relegation with the Ukrainians. It was possible to win 3-2 in the relegation round against Norway , but the other two games against Latvia (0-5) and relegated Austria (4-8) were lost, so that in the end only the last place remained. In 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2014 and 2015 , when he led his team onto the ice as captain, he then played with his team in Division I.
