Prison Vienna-Favoriten

The Vienna-Favoriten Prison is a special facility of the Austrian penal system. It is located in the 10th Viennese district of favorites in the same building as the District Court . The prison has a special treatment order for according to § 22 of the Criminal Code in correctional for weaning needy offenders housed convicts and § 159 para. 2 StVG for normal weaning needy prisoners. This makes it the central prison for drug withdrawal in Austria.

Together with a branch in Münchendorf , which is run as a therapy station, the prison has 119 prison places. As of August 30, 2007, there were a total of 129 prisoners for this, which corresponds to a total occupancy rate of 114.16 percent. This makes the Favoriten prison one of the busiest prisons in Austria. This fact is also due to the fact that prisoners from all over Germany can apply for a place in detention for drug withdrawal.
