geography

Köckenitzsch is located approx. 11 km south of Naumburg (Saale) .

history

In 1483 Köckenitzsch was first mentioned in a document. Like Casekirchen and Seidewitz, the place belonged to the northern part of the Eisenberg district office until 1826 . The Wettin district office in Eisenberg belonged to different Ernestine duchies due to several divisions in the course of its existence . In 1826 Köckenitzsch came with the northern part of the Eisenberg district office from the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen and became part of the Camburg exclave.

From 1922 to 1939 the place belonged to the Camburg district department . Until 1952 belonged Köckenitzsch like most modern districts of the municipality Molauer Land to Thuringia . During the territorial reform of 1952 in the GDR , the place came from the disbanded Jena district to the Naumburg district in the Halle district .

On January 1, 1957, the previously independent community of Köckenitzsch was incorporated into Casekirchen . As a result of the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Abtlöbnitz , Casekirchen, Leislau and Molau to form the new municipality of Molauer Land , Köckenitzsch has been one of eleven districts of this municipality since January 1, 2010.
