The Kahlbach is a nearly one kilometer long, orographically right and geographically west-northwest tributary of the Sulzbach in the area of the municipality of Bad Soden in the Hessian Main-Taunus district .
geography
course
The Kahlbach rises at an altitude of about 218 m above sea level. NHN at Königsteiner Taunusfuß in a small mixed forest south of the Bad Soden district Altenhain . The source lies in the dense woodland, which is joined to the west by a wet fallow area surrounded by orchards. The Schmiehbach rises almost 900 m southwest of its source and the Mailborn almost 800 m south-southeast .
It initially flows in an east-southeast direction about 50 m in the Obere Kahlbach corridor south of the single and two-family houses on the outskirts of the village of Altenhain through dense wood. After almost 200 m it then runs in a narrow green strip surrounded by wood. About 50 m south of the Kahlbach there is the approximately 1.3 hectare sweet chestnut grove Mailborn with the oldest sweet chestnut trees in the Main-Taunus district in the Kainerheck corridor . The forest sports field of the BSC Altenhain is located a little southwest of the grove .
The brook now runs between a mixed forest on the right and meadow orchards on the left in a wet fallow strip through the Untere Kahlbach corridor , then flows through two small fish ponds and forms the boundary between Altenhain and Bad Soden.
The stream now crosses under the Sodener Weg and then marks the boundary between Bad Soden and Neuenhain, which is also the municipality boundary between the two health resorts of Bad Soden and Königstein , as well as the district boundary between the Main-Taunus district and the Hochtaunus district .
There it enters the nature reserve Unteres Altenhainer Tal near Bad Soden and finally flows out at an altitude of about 184 m above sea level. NHN about half a kilometer southeast of Altenhain and just under a kilometer west of Bad Soden from the right into the Sulzbach .
Its approximately 900 m long run ends about 34 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of 38 ‰.
