In the northeast of the district of Gifhorn, the district extends south of Wittingen over the gently undulating flottsand area . The village has a flat, south-west exposed slope.

history

There is evidence that Kakerbeck was first mentioned in the deed of June 3, 1243. However, Kakerbeck belongs to the Beke settlements, whose emergence is generally attributed to the older clearing period (500–800 AD).

As part of the municipal reform in Lower Saxony, the independent municipality of Kakerbeck was incorporated into the city of Wittingen on March 1, 1974.

In 1993, the documentary mention was celebrated with a party to mark the 750th anniversary.

Culture and sights

The frog band , a brass band that is known far beyond the boundaries of Wittingen, is well worth seeing . Every year at Pentecost the Frog King Festival takes place in Kakerbeck. The Advent blowing of the frog band also attracts numerous guests from near and far to the Rundlingsdorf. Every other year the 'young people' of the village hold the frog pop party, which was last held in 2012.

Economy and Infrastructure

Animal breeding has been practiced in Kakerbeck since the beginning of 1900 . In addition to cattle breeding, horse breeding is very important. Due to the structural change in agriculture there are only 3 full-time farmers, of which 1 farm has created a further mainstay by operating a biogas plant and another by operating its own farm dairy.

A storage company operates a large grain warehouse. A medium-sized bus company is also located in Kakerbeck.

A children's and youth home, initially set up in the former Kakerbeck inn in 1991 and moved to a new building in 2012, offers children a new home.

education

Kakerbeck was the school location from 1777 (first mention) to 1970. Elementary school students from the surrounding towns of Hagen , Mahnburg and Suderwittingen visited the school in Kakerbeck. The new primary school was built in 1953. The Kakerbeck children have been attending the primary school in Wittingen since 1970. Depending on the degree, it goes to the Wittingen secondary school, the Wittingen secondary school, the Hankensbüttel grammar school, the IGS Sassenburg or the Hermann Löns school in Wittingen.
