The Canada Women's National Basketball Team is the national selection of Canadian female basketball players. It is organized by the Canadian basketball association Canada Basketball and represents Canada at international tournaments. Lisa Thomaidis has been the selection trainer since 2014.

history

In five World Cup participations in the 1970s and 1980s, the Canadian selection won two bronze medals and also achieved fourth place at the 1984 Olympic Games on the North American continent, after only being able to win the premiere of the women's competition in front of a home crowd in Montreal in 1976 Finished sixth. Otherwise, the selection remained from the 1990s in global competitions without top placements and was only able to celebrate significant successes in continental competitions, often without the participation of the US selection from the neighboring motherland of basketball. In addition to various medals at the Pan-American Games and the tournament victory in Toronto in 2015 , the selection also won the American Championships twice . After winning the first tournament in 1995 in front of a home crowd in Hamilton (Ontario) , the selection also won 20 years later in 2015 in Edmonton .
