Karl-Heinz Lugenheim

Karl-Heinz Lugenheim (born April 30, 1928 in Leipzig ) is a former German diplomat . He was Ambassador of the GDR in Iraq , in Hungary , Syria and Jordan .

Life

Lugenheim, son of a worker, learned the trade of machine fitter and later graduated as a graduate economist.

In 1950 he joined the diplomatic service of the GDR. He was initially the main consultant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). From 1956 to 1962 he worked as second secretary at the embassy of the GDR in Warsaw . From 1963 to 1966 he was Consul and First Secretary at the Consulate General of the GDR in Iraq, then deputy head of the Department of Arab States and then from 1970 to 1977 Head of Middle and Middle East in MFAA. From May 1977 to 1982 Lugenheim was the GDR's ambassador in Baghdad . From July 1983 to August 1988 he was ambassador of the GDR in Budapest and finally from January 1989 to 1990 ambassador to Damascus and from March 1989 to 1990 second accredited in Jordan.

Lugenheim was a member of the SED .
