biography

After graduating from high school in 1965 at the Humboldt Gymnasium in Düsseldorf , Karl-Heinz Rödiger studied electrical engineering at the Technical University (TU) Berlin . After completing his intermediate diploma in electrical engineering, he participated as a student representative in setting up the computer science course and the cybernetics department at the TU Berlin ; in the winter semester 1972/73 he switched to this course. After graduating in computer science, he worked from 1975 to 1980 as a research assistant at the Institute for Applied Computer Science in the department of cybernetics and then as a research assistant in a project to develop computer science lessons in secondary school at the Free University of Berlin . From 1982 to 1986 Karl-Heinz Rödiger was employed as a research assistant in the interdisciplinary research project Design of Dialogue Interfaces at the TU Berlin . He did his doctorate with a thesis on the work-oriented design of dialogue systems . From 1986 to 1990 he worked on numerous research and development projects as part of the research programs for the humanization of working life (HdA, AuT) in his own research and consulting institute in Berlin .

In 1990 Karl-Heinz Rödiger took over a university professorship in the field of mathematics and computer science at the University of Bremen . Together with Jürgen Friedrich , Herbert Kubicek and Wilhelm Steinmüller , he worked on a uniform teaching and research concept for the field of computer science and society in a field of study applied computer science : In addition to the technical, social science, economic, legal, cultural, political and ethical subjects should also be included in this subject Include questions. The results of the joint work can be found in Wilhelm Steinmüller's Information Technology and Society. In 2001 Karl-Heinz Rödiger was appointed professor .

From 1990 to 2013 Karl-Heinz Rödiger represented applied computer science in teaching with regular events on software engineering , production information technology , interaction design , information technology and society , IT law: intellectual property , ethical problems in computer science. In addition, he regularly worked on four-semester student projects on, among other things, production planning systems (PPS) , computer-aided design (CAD) , computer -aided pattern construction and virtual fitting. In research he works on work-oriented development of interactive systems, evaluation of interactive work systems, preservation of design knowledge in pattern construction systems (COAT), computer science and copyright law .

As spokesman for two working groups in 1994 and 2004, he developed the first versions of the Ethical Guidelines of the Society for Informatics (GI) (“Our Ethical Guidelines”). As the spokesman for another working group, in 2006 he prepared a position paper on questions of copyright for the GI (“Originals need copies”).
