Karl Borromeo Thumann

Karl Borromäus Thumann (born September 13, 1820 in Bamberg ; † May 15, 1874 ibid) was a German theologian and vicar general in Bamberg.

Life

After Thumann had finished high school, he studied Catholic theology at the University of Munich after completing his degree in philosophy . He completed his studies with a doctorate.

He was ordained a priest on March 2, 1844 . He became vicar in Zeuln, after which Thumann became the sub- rain of the Ducal Georgianum (Munich) very early in 1846 . This was followed by a professorship for pastoral theology at the University of Munich. Due to a nervous ailment, he resigned his office and in 1863 became vicar general in the diocese of Bamberg . He died on May 15, 1874 at the age of less than 54.
