Walter Dürig

Walter Dürig (born March 17, 1913 in Breslau ; † October 1, 1992 in Munich ) was a German Catholic theologian and liturgical scholar .

Career

Dürig was ordained a priest in his native city of Breslau in 1937 and was then active in parish pastoral care. From 1939 to 1945 he was prefect of the Wroclaw Theologian Convict Marianum. During this time he prepared his doctorates in philosophy (1941) and theology (1944).

After moving to Munich, he completed his habilitation in 1948 at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Munich and was appointed private lecturer there in the same year . From 1950 to 1951 he was sub-rain of the Georgianum seminary . Between 1951 and 1958 he was teaching at the universities of Regensburg and Freiburg i. Br. After. In 1960 he returned to Munich as professor of liturgical science and pastoral theology and took over the management of the Georgianum. From 1966 to 1980 he was professor of liturgical science.
