Karl Christian Tadey (born October 4, 1802 in Schleswig ; † December 9, 1841 in Friedrichstadt ) was a Schleswig-Holstein pedagogue and Evangelical Lutheran pastor.

Life

Karl Christian Tadey was born in Schleswig in 1802 as the son of the plasterer Francesco Antonio Tadey . He studied theology at the universities in Kiel and Jena and passed his exams in 1824. Tadey initially worked at the educational institute for boys in Nienstedten , then in 1826 he was appointed professor in the Horst community and, from 1827, rector at the city school in Friedrichstadt for around thirteen years. In recognition of his literary achievements, he received his doctorate in philosophy from Kiel University in 1838. In 1841, only a few months before his death, he was the successor of his friend Johann Christoph Biernatzki, who had died the year before, as pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation there , although his health was already severely impaired .

During his time as rector in Friedrichstadt, Tadey dealt with pedagogical questions of his everyday life, with the reform of the school system and especially with the establishment of higher middle schools , and published several papers in this context. Furthermore, in the last two years of his life, he edited the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Schulblatt together with Carl Nicolaus Kähler and wrote his own essays for the magazine, which contributed to making him known beyond his homeland.
