Carl Friedrich Lauckhard

Carl (Karl) Friedrich Lauckhard (born April 9, 1813 in Alzey , † April 16, 1876 in Weimar ) was a German educator .

Life

Born as the son of a tax collector and trader , Lauckhard went to the Progymnasium in Grünstadt as well as the grammar schools in Zweibrücken and Mainz . He studied theology and education in Giessen . During his studies in 1830 he became a member of the old Gießen fraternity Germania . In 1836 he passed his first theological examination. An investigation was initiated against him because of fraternity activities, but the court in Giessen acquitted him in 1836.

After completing his studies, he founded a private school in Alzey . He worked as a vicar in Fulda / Alsfeld , Albig , Offenbach and Dolgesheim . As a parish administrator in Offenbach he got to know Wilhelm Curtmann , who brought him to deal with literature and criticism and to work as a journalist. In 1840 he went to the Friedberger Model School as the second teacher. From 1846 to 1850 he worked at the 1st Evangelical City Boys School in Darmstadt . In 1846 he was given the character of a free preacher , which means he often preached in the town church .

In 1848 he was appointed to the new school commission of the Ministry of Culture and Education in Weimar . He continued to work as a boy teacher and ran a training school for confirmed daughters of higher classes. He was a member of the committee for the new female training school of the youth education association. In 1855 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . In the same year he became a school councilor in the Department of Justice and Culture of the State Ministry of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach. In Weimar he worked as a consultant for elementary schools until the end of his life. He belonged to a circle of friends around Hoffmann von Fallersleben , Franz Liszt and Franz von Dingelstedt . In 1857 he took part in the 9th German Teachers' Assembly in Frankfurt am Main , and was elected 1st President. In 1863 he became a senior school officer. In 1868 he took part in the school men conference in Berlin for Weimar , and in Dresden in 1872 . He worked on a new school law and published numerous educational publications.
