Life

Vierodt was the son of Chamber Councilor Ernst Jakob Vierordt († 1810). He attended the Karlsruhe Lyceum until 1808 . Then, at the request of his parents and Johann Peter Hebels , one of his teachers and a friend of the family, he went to Heidelberg University to study theology. The vicariate in Weisweil followed from 1811 onwards . From there he went to Yverdon-les-Bains . There he taught at the school of the school reformer Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi . After working as a private tutor in Neuchâtel in Switzerland and as vicar in Diersheim , he became a subdeacon and teacher at the Lahr pedagogy in 1816 .

Vierodt moved, promoted to deacon , as a teacher at his home school, at the Karlsruhe Lyceum. There he was appointed professor in 1823 . In 1838 he was appointed a member of the Protestant Church and Examination Commission in Baden. In 1855 he took over the position of principal at the school. On his service anniversary in 1856 he was appointed Privy Councilor by Frederick I and was also awarded an honorary doctorate ( Dr. theol. Hc ) by the Theological Faculty of Heidelberg University . In 1860 he retired and after 1862 was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Zähringer Lion .

Vierodt had an early interest in history, but carried out his research mainly in his spare time. It was not until 1832 that he also became a history teacher at the Lyceum, and it was not until 1844 that he was given access to the Bavarian Main State Archives .

The psychologist Karl von Vierordt was his son.
